The Gangs Of Wasseypur is a series of Indian Hindi-language crime films directed by Ram Gopal Verma and produced by R. Balki. The first film in the series, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as gangster Jai Bhagwanda, was released on 19 September 2010 and went on to become one of the most successful independent Bollywood films of all time. With its success, more movies followed, with director Ram Gopal Varma's daughter Vahbbiz joining the team as an assistant director for part 4. The third and final instalment of the series, "Gangs Of Wasseypur 3", was released on 15 June 2017. The film is currently the fourth highest grossing Hindi film of 2017 as well as the 4th highest grossing Hindi film ever. Set in contemporary times, each film is connected to the next, with appearances by some of the characters from previous installments. With "Gangs Of Wasseypur 3", Verma returns to his social realist roots by adapting "The Gangs of Wasseypur" into a feature length movie after a hiatus from filmmaking since 2007. Set in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, it is set around coal mafia. It is the story of coal mafia in Dhanbad in the 1980s, with appearance by various characters from the previous films in the series. The film is divided into two parts, with Part 1 set in 1980s and Part 2 set in 2000s. The first part tells the story of coal mafia don Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpayee) and his son Tanishq (Dharma). It also explores how a simple man, a poor farmer named Inderjeet Singh (Jimmy Sheirgill), becomes a dreaded gangster against all odds. It also shows how a village boy named Jai Bhagwan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) understands the power of money, and how a woman makes a man out of him. The second part starts in 2000s and involves three friends—Tanishq's son, Dilawar Khan (Ganesh Yadav), Dilawar's friend Samar Vishramaditya (Prabhu) and Samar's friend Pinky Malhotra (Joy Mukherjee)—who grow up together in Dhanbad. In their teens, they witness things that alter their lives forever, forcing them to make choices to either remain ordinary or embark on a path of crime. After the success of "Gangs Of Wasseypur" (2010), Ram Gopal Varma shot the sequel in less than a year for his production company, R. G. V. Films & Entertainment. The film received attention for featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui's grunting as Jai Bhagwadh, an act that had to be dubbed into Hindi before it could be released in India under the title "Gangs Of Wasseypur 2". The first part of "Gangster Bonneying" was released on 26 February 2013 and the second part was released on 30 December 2013. cfa1e77820
